I’m going to start blogging in categories, so why not make the first of the Bites I Love category dedicated to chocolate?!
Here’s a bar I found that I love: Art Bar. They’re dark chocolate without any soy lecithin in them. For those of us who are trying to avoid soy whenever possible, this is a great victory! Soy lecithin is an ingredient commonly used in chocolate to give it a smooth texture. I found the bar that I tried to have a great texture, despite the missing ingredient. I have had others before that didn’t have quite this nice of a mouth-feel.
They’re also vegan and gluten free! They have a quinoa crisp version that may be quite interesting. Here are the ingredients from the one I tried: Dark Chocolate with Coconut: cocoa liquor, unrefined whole cane sugar, coconut flakes, cocoa butter. Cocoa 58% min. They’re not sugar free, no. I feel it’s okay to have sugar in moderation, especially when it’s in a dessert/treat. Sugar’s place, if anywhere, is as a treat. Something to enjoy as a small percentage of your overall, regular healthy diet.
These bars are made from organic, fair trade cocoa beans and you can get them online or in stores. No, I’m not being paid to promote them, though it would be nice…and I’m open to it since I rather enjoyed the one I tried. I can’t wait to try more!
