Diane Sanfilippo 30 Day Meal Plan, Practical Paleo, What's Up Weekly 16 Comments

Here's what was up last week!

New on the Blog – How to Best Select a Meal Plan from Practical Paleo, 2nd Edition

One of the great things about Paleo is that eating real, whole foods and avoiding processed, refined foods is always better for your health, no matter what challenges you’re facing.

The meal plans that I created for Practical Paleo are designed to support your individual needs, whether you’re managing a diagnosed condition or suspected health challenge or you’re working toward a particular health goal.

If you find that the food choices in a particular 30-Day Meal Plan don’t suit your tastes, or your family members have varying needs while you want to follow a targeted plan, it’s perfectly fine to make variations to the meals you prepare. You can easily swap out entire recipes or, more specifically, swap out proteins, veggies, or other items for foods you prefer. However, if the diet and lifestyle recommendations suggest adding or avoiding certain foods, be sure to make that a priority—any other swaps are up to you.

Diane:Direct – Intro to the Keto Diet: What I'm Doing

Most of you guys already know me as a Certified Nutrition Consultant or as the New York Times bestselling author of Practical Paleo.

But I am so much more than that!

In my new vlog series, Diane: Direct, I'm going to be diving into some brand new topics and you're going to see a whole other side of who I am and what I'm about.

In this new episode, I'm digging into the basics of a keto diet and how I'm doing it.

I answer the questions:

  • What is a keto diet?
  • What are “net carbs?”
  • How do you know if you're in ketosis?
  • Do you have to be in ketosis to be a fat-burner?
  • What workouts are best when you are on a keto diet?
  • Not everyone should do keto… who is it not right for?

21DSD Recipe | One Pan Spatchcock Chicken & Roasted Veggies From Food And Sunshine

Spatchcocking isn’t only fun to say, it results in the tastiest (and fastest) roast chicken you will ever have. After cutting out the backbone, the chicken is flattened. This cuts the cooking time down to approximately 30 minutes, almost half the time of an intact bird! It also leaves all the skin exposed, which crisps up perfectly at high temperatures. This is a must have in our house, as crispy chicken skin is the holy food grail. It also makes the perfect companion for a one pan meal, as you can lay the flattened bird over vegetables and let it all cook together.

Highlights from Instagram

In the wake of when I share anything that has the potential to make people feel a twinge of pain, I inevitably lose a solid handful of followers. . I often shy away from using the word “follower” to refer to folks who read and engage with my posts. Sure, you physically tapped a button that says “Follow” to be with me on this journey, but the *many* of you are beyond that. You aren't here to simply follow along in a zombie-like, zoned out state. . You're awake, engaged, self-reflective, and introspective. You know that when I say something that cuts a little bit, that it not only isn't personally directed at you (it's likely I don't even know you for that to be possible), but it also is intended to fire up something within you at the same time. . If something I say upsets you, hang out for a minute and reflect on whether or not it's an intended cut, or something else entirely. . Most often, I find that when I am direct and encourage you to discover ways to resolve your problems or answer questions on your own – with little help from me – folks react one of two ways: 1) appalled that I won't “just answer the question” and want to storm off in a huff of entitled rage (on the internet), or 2) with a realization that they do, in fact, hold the power (that they were trying to give to me) literally between their thumbs or at their fingertips. . I believe you are all extremely capable and empowered – even if you don't believe it – and I am here to hand you back that power, day after day. . I'm here to guide and support, but not to tell you what you should do. That may upset a few of you, but I know in my heart that it will inspire many more of you. ❤ #dianedirect #mylifeswork

Taco Zoodles. 🌮🍜 Listen, peeps, I don't claim to have reasons for why I eat many of the things I do, but sometimes they just sound like a good idea. So I try them. And gosh darn it, this was SO YUMMY. Zoodles under there made with @theinspiralizer – topped with some @maryheff.5marysfarms ground pork seasoned with @balancedbites #BBspices TACO & FAJITA blend, pico, some 🕛🌚🧀 goat Gouda, lactose-free sour cream I found at Whole Foods, cilantro, lime juice, and Maldon sea salt. Oh and green Tabasco which I freaking love. . 🌀Someday soon I'll make a vlog showing you how I make my zoodles but just be aware that I HAVE NO MAGIC TRICKS. My zoodles are wet just like yours. So I do my best to cook them quickly, drain or dry them off a bit, or just pair them with a thick sauce or topping that can handle it. I don't care that much about it to make crazy efforts around it. It's just water, peeps! . Tap the photo for brands and tap the bookmark icon under the right side of this pic to save the idea for later. Boom. . This was my breakfast/brunch/meal 1 today. . #tacozoodles #whatdianeate #lchf #lowcarb #keto

  1. I am pretty excited to learn more about the Keto Diet. I have stopped nursing and I am ready to train more and tone up now. My body needed a couple of vanity pounds to maintain my supply so I really had to be careful and listen to my body while nursing.

  2. Loved the video, super cute, fun and upbeat! The info was valuable! I would like to try a keto-like approach to get my hormones regulated but I need/want/love a lot of veggies in my diet. I can’t figure out how to get all my veggies in on low low carb. ugh!
