Diane: Direct Vlog

Have you ever wondered if it's possible to follow both a low-fat AND low-carb diet? You might think I'd say, “Don't do this!”, “This is crazy!”, but it's not quite that simple, and in the short-term, it can be effective for some people. It all comes down to knowing how to balance your plate – and I'm not just talking about the macronutrients.

Amazon Prime Day!

Woohoo, Amazon's PRIME DAY kicked off on Monday evening, and all 4 of my books are currently available for just $2.99 as a Kindle Matchbook!

(They'll be that price all week, actually, so if you miss them today, don't worry!)

What's a Matchbook? It's a way to get the kindle edition of a book you purchase from Amazon for a great deal. Your original purchase can be from anytime (I think it has to be of the 2nd edition of PP to qualify) or it can be in the same order. So, if you want to grab a printed copy of any of my books, this is the perfect time!

(Note: You don't need to be a Prime member to grab this deal!)

Amazon Prime Day has a $5 off promo as well for any one book, but you are eligible to get any of these (or all of them) for just $2.99 with a new or previous Amazon print book order.

I hope you're excited because I have no control over the pricing for the printed editions but sometimes I'm able to make this offer for you on the Kindle versions! Hooray for recipes at your fingertips!

Here's the link to Practical Paleo, but you can find the others easily on Amazon by searching for the title or my name:

Amazon Prime Day

And, the 8 quart Instant Pot is currently only $89.99 (regularly $139.95 – over 30% off)! So if you've been waiting to get one, this is the moment!

Instagram Stories

If you like seeing the RANDOM REALITY that makes you & I more the same than we are different (and maybe picking up some no-recipe-easy-recipes, home tips, musings on life from me, plus Paleo Kitty & Paleo Pup), join me in my stories.

What's nice about the Instagram Stories is that they PROVIDE SOME CONTEXT, or they tell a (duh) story better, or I feel like you can truly get to know me better in a format that can move if I want it to. It's just a better way for me to share things. Don't worry, I won't stop posting to my regular feed, but just know that I'm going to continue to share what I feel is valuable content and daily “stuff” via stories as well.

And honestly, I've been posting far more fun and educational content to my stories than I do to my feed. It's like a special reward for those who tap and say, “yes, Diane, we're with you and wanna learn more *and* see whatever silliness you're gonna share.” Ya feel me? I enjoy that type of content better than static posts in my feed. It's just my jam…

Also my jam? Fresh PINEAPPLE!

Highlights from Instagram

I ❤️ SUMMER!!! // Two of the major reasons why we made the decision to move to California from New Jersey about two years ago were: 1) the food and 2) the weather. Those two things combine to create an overall entirely different lifestyle than we had on the east coast. . Yes, we miss family and friends. Yes, we sacrifice some things in order to pay for the cost of living here in SF overall. But what we gain is worth it to us. It's a decision we made and we aren't lucky for it. We work (and have worked) for it. . Situations vary, but we can always control our own choices and how we respond to life's ups and downs. Choose to see your situation differently, and your whole life will change. . If you see and focus on all that you *have* rather than what you don't, your life will change. See what you can work for, not what you can wish for. . I could probably point out “things we don't have compared to x, y, or z person.” But those thoughts really don't cross my mind. I feel grateful and happy for what we do have, what we have worked for and is in our lives. . And, at the end of the day, a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, and love in our hearts is the foundation – the rest is icing. . So I'm grateful for this abundant, colorful, nutritious icing on the cake that is my life. I don't wish for more, but I'll work for it if I want it. I'll ask “how?”, not say “if.” And along the way, I'll wake up so grateful to see another day. . That escalated quickly from an “I love summer” post to a lot more, but whatever. That's where my head and heart are at right now. Be grateful for your life, regardless of your situation – this is your one go-around so don't waste it complaining. ❤️ . Tell me, what are you grateful for in your life right now? . #dianedirect #gratitude #onlythetrulyengagedwillgetthemessage

#HARPERMILLS // This sweet girl is the CCO of my company (Chief Cutness Officer). I can't handle her face. It seriously makes my heart burst every day. She's just the sweetest little furry ball of nerves and I love her. . Maybe one day she and #thedailymason will be actual friends, but for now they just coexist in peace and mostly ignore one another. Sigh. A girl can dream… . People often ask what we feed our pets. The easiest way to find the info is TJ google “balanced bites podcast what we feed our pets.” Also, I recommend becoming a @balancedbitespodcast listener. You'll get all the inside info and best updates there on everything you could ever want to know from me and @realfoodliz 😘 . #bordercolliemix #adoptdontshop #iphone7plus #portraitmode

Starting my mornings lately with some inspiration from someone I admire. And I don't do admiration lightly. I'm not easily impressed, nor do I find a lot of advice-givers to be worthy of my attention. . Rather than listening to someone's advice because they claim to have good advice for X, Y, or Z thing I'm trying to do, I simply observe someone in their own life. *That* is the gold, to me. . It isn't what you say about what *I* should do that compels me. It's simply watching how you live your life and how that plays out. Then, I take lessons from that observation and from thoughtful reflections on that life. . This quote is from an interview Oprah did about philanthropy that I found on a YouTube. And it hit me pretty hard. . Because it's a massive truth bomb. . I've said this before, but not often enough. I'm trying to figure out how to walk this path I feel I'm on… that started long before I was studying or teaching nutrition. And it'll continue long after. . My life's work isn't to get you to eat better or be healthier or more physically fit. . My life's work is to help you see that we are all the same. We all have the same power and responsibility innately within us at birth. . Circumstances will always vary and make things more or less difficult, true. But that isn't the deciding factor for your path in life. . You are responsible for your own life and what is in it. Your choices lead to your outcomes. It's up to you to choose differently when things don't go as you had hoped or expected. . And, change in your life will not come simply by doing things to make change. Yes, taking action matters. But if you don't believe that you can be and are responsible for what happens in your life, you're dead in the water. . This is your one precious life… how are you thinking about it? Do you believe you are responsible for how it plays out? Or is it all in someone else's hands? . Wake up and change your thoughts. . #dianedirect #youareresponsible #oprah @oprah #changeyourthoughts
