The soup was great! People were surprised that a little soup is pretty filling. It had ground beef (I found grass-fed and did not drain the meat when I cooked it), beef broth, tomato paste, and a bunch of vegetables. Some good meat, good fat, and vegetables can be a nice filling meal. Someone served salad with it, and I put good quality extra virgin olive oil on mine. My gut is probably sighing with relief. Heehee.
I'm looking forward to making more bone broth at home after the holidays.
I started eating paleo/primal/real whole foods in October, so roughly two and a half months ago. While visiting family for a couple weeks, my goal was to eat mostly paleo, but not make a big deal about what's offered. Tomorrow is my turn to make dinner, and it's paleo-friendly soup!
The past week or so... Oh my gosh! I knew I felt better eating paleo/primal/real whole foods, but the last week is making that abundantly clear! I can tell my digestion isn't going as well. I'm not avoiding sugar very much (looking forward to January 6, and my first 21-Day Sugar Detox!), but am doing my best to avoid gluten, soy, and seed oils. I'm grateful for the availability of kombucha and grass-fed butter at the nearby chain grocery store. Those and a few other items mean I have *some* real food (plus probiotics).
