  1. Hey Diane-
I read online that mixing 1/2 teaspoon baking soda in 8 ounces of water twice a day can help with heartburn. What are your thoughts?
I just bought the HCL supplement so I am going to give that a try a few times a week.

    Great article-Thanks for posting.

  2. I have heard taking a teaspoon on apple cider vinegar daily helps. I used to get heartburn far more often (prior to a gluten and dairy free diet). The ACV seems to work for me the odd time I get it.

  3. My reflux gets much worse if I eat lemon, or vinegar and even tiny amounts of hcl cause a lot of burning and pain for me. How. An I increase my stomach acid if everything acidic hurts?

      Hi Sharon-

I have notes in Practical Paleo on this, but I would recommend methods for improving your stomach lining, which is often why you feel the acid you otherwise should not feel. Ways to help that: reducing stress, eliminating alcohol and foods to which you may be allergic, slowing down when you eat – chew, be sure you’re in rest/digest mode… you can also look for some DGL supplements and try drinking licorice root and/or marshmallow root tea to help it as well as aloe vera juice.
