30 Day Guide - New CoverIf you've been waiting for a Paleo cookbook to release that includes only the most practical, approachable, and easy weeknight go-to dishes — your wait is over!

Hayley Mason & Bill Staley have just released their third book, The 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking.

In this book, you'll find:

  • 75 brand new recipes.
  • 24 bonus “express eats” ideas for cooking beyond the book.
  • 30 day meal plan for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Weekly shopping lists to streamline meal planning.
  • Meal building 101.
  • How to shop for the best ingredients.
  • FAQ’s and the science behind the Paleo diet.

I know you all have loved and appreciated my approach to recipe creation in Practical Paleo – easy-to-find ingredients, simple instructions, and delicious flavors. If you have been looking for more, more, more – this book will not let you down!

I gave a copy of The 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking to my intern, Jackie, to take home and make a recipe over the weekend. Then I made a quick video to show you guys what she (ahem, her mom) made.

Insider information:

As a good friend of The Food Lovers', I have to let you all know this: I tasted a lot of these recipes! While the pair were working on their other new release, Gather, on-location in others' homes for several months, the recipes for The 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking were created on weeknights in their own home. Lucky me, I was there to try probably close to 20 of these recipes – and they are exactly the kind of food that we all eat regularly. We make the joke all the time when we eat this way that “This is how we really eat.” So, now you all know!

The 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking is available now from Amazon.com, in all Costco stores in the US and Canada, Barnes & Noble.com and in book stores locally!

And… if you do order the book online, Bill & Hayley will send you some of the recipes immediately so you don't have to wait!

  46. Count me in! I have been buying every paleo cookbook that looks good. Several Practical Paleo recipes have become weekly staples in our house. (We made the mustard glazed chicken thighs last night.)

  47. This book could be an incredible tool for my husband to use to help me develop our weekly menu. (After 55+ hour work weeks, I get tired of having to formulate every meal for the weeks and have asked for his help… finally.) It would also be helpful to lend to book to family members and friends who are interested in trying the Whole30 or grain-free lifestyle but get overwhelmed about what to cook.

I love that fabulous Paleo couple because they teach me ways to enjoy the foods I used to loved and that I don’t need to sacrifice the flavors I’ve missed! I’d love to have this book to get myself back on the wagon when I’ve failed and help me keep focused on what I put in my body!

  89. My husband and I eat a Paleo diet pretty regularly, but we need something to help kick our butts in gear and do this right. I want us to be healthy and show a good example for our 2 year old. I also want to get my body into a good baby-making mode to have the healthiest pregnancy and delivery for our next child. He/she deserves to have the best start to life and I want to give that to him/her. Having a guide to help get us there and learn how to make a good meal plan will help with all of this.

    Thank you!

  99. Still adjusting to Paleo life but LOVE it so far. Would really like to have another option (aside from my Practival Paleo) to reference for planned-out meals as we’re getting the hang of things.

  100. I don’t own any paleo cookbooks. Winning one would be an awesome way to start my new lifestyle. I watched my daughter go through the cleanse in February. She felt so great after a month of paleo that she vowed not to revert. It is now June and she lost over 30 lbs in the process. Her hair is shinier, the changes in her are numerous.

  106. Would love this book for my families next whole 30 in August! My youngest daughter is allergic to eggs nuts and dairy and having more sources for food ideas is a must. Their website and first two cookbooks are my go tos so far and I would love a more strict paleo cookbook just for those whole 30s! Looking forward to my next trip to Costco just to scope this book out!

  108. Exciting! I have so many paleo books, but somehow, I always need MORE. I never enjoyed cooking before starting paleo over a year ago, and now, my cookbooks are my prized possession. I LOVE Practical Paleo and Make it Paleo — two of my favorites that I use every week. Have a two year old and a three year old, a book with easy weeknight recipes would be a wonderful addition to my collection. Can’t Wait!! 🙂

  110. I am not one of those folks that can not create a recipe out of the blue and have it taste good. I look for really good recipes to add to my collection. I am a recipe follower. I have been in the process of changing my eating habits to Paleo. This way of eating is making me healthier. This new cookbook, The 30 day Guide to Paleo cooking is right up my alley. I would love to get this book!

  112. We have just begun eating paleo and am still working on changing our thinking and meal plans. I would LOVE this.

  113. I love that there are pictures along with the recipes. Not knowing how to plate it or serve it can really make for messy appearances, and how it looks is so important since our family is new to paleo.

  114. I was going to say I would give it to a friend who is new to paleo. But now I think I would keep the book and then let friends who are interested in paleo borrow it. It’s a win-win!

  115. I’ve been struggling with going Paleo for awhile now and don’t know where to turn to. From what you’ve explained and what I’ve read about this book, it sounds great! It sounds like it will give me a good idea of how to build my meals and give me plenty of meal options to try. Part of my problem is variety as well as time. So anything that saves me time is the best part. I’m a full-time college student who has a family and a job, so it’s really hard to get everything prepared and ready and have it be yummy. No more excuses, right?

  117. I have been LOVING all of Bill & Hayley’s books. While I’ve been Paleo for over 9 months now, I still have not been able to get my husband moved over. I’m hoping adding another item to my arsenal in the kitchen will help inch him over to the healthier side.

  123. I bought ‘Gather’ recently and I love it. It’s beautiful! I shared it with food photographers I know on Face Book. We’re been using the Hollandaise sauce and we love to entertain. My husband is the baker in the family so he bakes two Paleo loaves (one plain for sandwiches and toast, an one Banana bread for treats) weekly. I’m a Celiac and I never ever want to go back to grains!

I would use the 30 day guide as a BIBLE. I’m not kidding! And I would share it with everyone I know, from friends to family, to clients…. I already share your recipes and posts with everyone I know, especially my family members in europe. I’m planning to visit my entire extended family in the UK and Ireland for 2 months in August. We all love meat but we are all irish, so the celiac gene is strong. I would bring the book with me and cook with my mother, father, sisters and brother who all have grain issues, as well as their kids…. With GUSTO!

    Pretty please??!!!

  125. I have been listening to your podcasts and over the past few months have slowly transitioned my way of thinking. I do not have any paleo books yet so I would love to have this as my first:)

  128. As a recent college grad I have loved my shift towards paleo. I have struggled making the complete shift because I have yet to have complete control over my food. I am now moving out and think this book would be a great tool in the “real world” and learning how to truly live paleo

  130. I’m always looking for more paleo recipe ideas. It’s so cool that there seems to be a new cookbook every week! I love all the paleo cooking creativity!

  132. Of course I’d like to have this book for myself, but you have no idea how many friends are interested in trying to eat “paleo” but have no idea where to start — several have actually asked me if I had a 3-4 week meal plan! This is absolutely perfect!

  134. This is great! I am just starting to go real paleo after “dabbling” for about a year. I often get home late – after 8 pm from work and the gym and I need FAST food, but not Fast Food. 😀

  138. I have been cooking up some good food with Practical Paleo and I’d love to add this to my paleo cookbook shelf. I love cooking healthy for my family. This year I’ve changed our diet in so many ways. This cookbook would be a blessing to our family.

    Thank you,

  140. I don’t have any Paleo cookbooks yet. I need to get some good recipes going. I have a 17 year old son who is prediabetic and skinny as a rail. We just had him in for a checkup and the doctor told him to “eat more carbs” because he is underweight. Really?!! I need good tasting food to tempt him away from the constant sandwiches and bowls of cereal that is all he currently eats. Help!

  142. I would love to win this book to give me a bit of inspiration for weeknight family dinners as I am in a bit of a rut at the minute. As a busy mum this is exactly what I need to help me create delicious meals quickly. It looks amazing 🙂

  146. I got Make it Paleo and would love this one because practical, everyday/weeknight meals is what I really need! Especially trying to cook for my family, including a picky toddler 🙂

  147. I SOOO loved Gather, and I just cannot wait to get this book! I just absolutely love new recipe books, and especially Paleo recipes now that I eat and live that way. I’m so very excited!!

  151. Fabulous! The pictures are gorgeous even in the video, something that is usually lacking in cookbooks today. This book will make it easier for my husband to cook meals and participate in healing his gut, as his family predisposition for GI issues has been rearing its ugly head with more force lately.

  153. I’ve been doing research for a long time now and eating the Paleo way just makes sense and in the past few weeks I have felt great!! Not to mention the added bonus of losing weight. I got a few books and Practical Paleo is my favorite so for. I have to say the pumpkin pancakes are truly delicious even my husband ate them (he’s a real flour pancake kind of guy). I am slowly transitioning my household so my husband and son get used to it slowly. I would love the new book to help arm me with more great recipes to keep things interesting. Thank you 😉

  157. I really want to decrease the amount of carbs I rely on day-to-day, and having a recipe book with lots of delicious meats and veggies would really help!

  158. Awesome! I’m just starting my paleo journey in an effort to get a handle on my thyroid and blood sugar issues (that I shouldn’t have as a 31yo!). My biggest concern is finding time to plan and make grain free meals, sounds like this book would be a welcome addition to my kitchen 🙂

  160. I can feel my body changing in just the few weeks that I’ve been eating strict Paleo. I so amazed at the changes in my energy levels and overall well being. I’m only mad that I didnt take charge of my health sooner. I will say that the weekdays are a challenge so i would love to get a copy of this book. If not I’ll just swing by Costco and pick one up! Thanks so much and good luck!

  170. I have been following Paleo since January and am totally converted. I feel so much better, have more energy and enjoying the cooking. I have bought a couple of cookbooks but am so looking forward to checking this one out! Love your blogs/posts, etc!

  172. My husband, daughter and son-in-law are brand new to the Paleo way of life. My husband and I are doing great but my daughter has two very young sons and they keep her busy. I want her to get off to a great start with this new way of life. She’s been off Diet Coke for two days and I cheer that! We both bought Practical Paleo but I would love to win this to give her something to help boost her as she starts to change her ways and raise her sons in a healthier environment!

  173. I can’t wait for some good paleo recipes. I am new to paleo and my stomach already feels better and I need some meal plans to keep me on track. Loving Practical Paleo as well! [email protected]

  174. My dad is turning 75 July 4th of this year. He has been going through a lot of physical aches and pains over the last year. I finally talked him into trying the paleo diet. He is really enjoying it, have less physical pain, losing weight and his cholesterol just decreased significantly. I would love to give him this book so he can continue on his journey. He needs to add more recipes so he doesn’t eat tuna fish everyday. I love my dad and want him to live healthy and pain free as long as possible.

  175. oh how i would love to win this cookbook. we have just recently adopted the paleo lifestyle as a family (of 6) and this would be a big help. ditto what melissa down there said…rebuilding my cookbook collection and trying to branch out from the same ole meals. i love simplicity, but a new sumpn sumpn every now and then sure is nice too. thanks so much for this website, and this giveaway (esp. if i win, wink wink). 😉 kidding…love all your generosity…even if i don’t win. 🙂

  177. I loved their first book, and even though the other new book Gather looks incredible, the 30 day guide to Paleo Cooking looks like it would be a better resource for new recipes to make for everyday cooking. I need something fast and quick to the table on most days! Trying to get my husband and daughter to switch over to a more Paleo type diet, and this book would certainly help!

  178. I love simple recipes, with readily available ingredients. I have enjoyed Practical Paleo for that reason, and enjoyed reading Gather as well. I am so excited with all the new Paleo cookbooks, and would love to have a copy!

  179. I have been following a paleo diet for over a year now. I finally got my husband to get started on it when I got “Practical Paleo.” He has tried all of the recipes and is looking for another source. I’d love to give him “The 30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking” as a belated Father’s Day gift.

  180. I am fairly new to the paleo lifestyle so cooking and finding the right foods to eat has been a learning process. I have been on your blog almost daily and I have listened to every podcast absorbing as much info as I can. I am trying to experiment with new recipes (since my bf is not paleo… YET!) that we both will enjoy and keep true to the paleo lifestyle. This cook book would be invaluable in my journey to healthy living and a great tool to help get my bf on the same page.

    🙂

  181. I would absolutely love to win this cookbook! My husband’s been eating paleo since last September, but I only recently adopted this lifestyle and have been really enjoying experimenting with new recipes. This cookbook looks exactly like what we need as we build our weekly menus!

  182. Great looking book, I don’t know if we’d use it every day for a month but we’d certainly make use of the recipes on a regular basis. Thanks for making a copy available, the more we can improve our eating habits the better our health will be.

  186. Omg I totally need this book! Paleo is how I learned to cook in the first place, but I still rely too much on Recipes — there is only like one or two meals that I can throw together easily on a weeknight. I would love love love to get a primer on how to manage everyday paleo cooking.

  187. I’ve been paleo for a little over a month now, and can never see going back to any other way of eating. I just need to amp up my cooking skills because I’ve been making the same breakfast, lunch and dinner for those 5-6 weeks now. I know this book would definitely help!!

  189. I have been trying, unsuccessfully to get my family and myself, completely paleo. I just can’t seem to find the balance. I love the idea of having an actual guide to follow. I NEED this…okay, maybe not NEED but I definitely WANT this. 😉

  191. Always looking for new ways to incorporate exciting recipes into my paleo lifestyle. I think experimenting in the kitchen has been half the fun!

  193. My husband and I did the Whole30 (for the first time) a couple years ago and were amazed at how good we felt. Unfortunately, as with most diets, we slowly started adding things back in until we were right back where we started. Well, after we did our last Whole30 (February) we decided we weren’t going back and started really looking at this Paleo Diet we had been hearing about. After first making the mental leap that this is just merely a diet (way of eating) and not a DIET, we have had no problem with staying Paleo 85-90% of the time. Our newest problem is now keeping out of the food rut – getting bored with what we are eating. We both have 5-10 recipes that we like and just keep recycling in different orders. It’s not bad (yet) but I can feel the urge to slide coming back. Since neither on of us is very adventurous or creative I am looking forward to using this book as a base to help find new things to try.
Your blog has been a great place for me to go and get answers and find new things in our new life with Paleo. Thank you!! 🙂

  194. I would like to get more recipes to help with my dietary transition to Paleo. I read much every day on foods and have been collecting recipes. This looks like a good book to use.

  198. I’ve been interested in the Paleo lifestyle for a while but I’ve been a little nervous as to how the transition would work for my husband, as well as for myself. This looks like a great place to start easing us both in. Thanks for the opportunity.

  199. I moved to Korea in July of 2012. Before moving to this awesome peninsula my skin was amazing — wrinkle and blemish free — Those were the days! I was also on a regular sleeping patten, with expected bedtimes and daily alarms for morning rises. However, this all changed drastically when I moved across the Pacific. My body had a really hard time adjusting to the time change in addition to my new working hours (2 p.m. – 9 p.m.) I am pretty sure the stress of my new environment in combination with lots of humidity clothed in smoke and smog had something to do changes in hormones. WELL, finally our Christmas trip to Tokyo was around the corner and I was mortified at the condition of my skin. My skin “problems” were having a serious effect on my confident and impairing my ability to enjoy myself and the people around me. So I decided to do some serious research and balance my bodies crazy hormones. It was at this point in my life I was introduced to Gary Taubes, Loren Cordain and Rob Wolf.

I have drastically changed my eating and physical activity habits since January 2013. My face is getting much, MUCH better and my body is happy — There are literally inches less of me than there was in January.

My point: cooking Paleo can be a challenge, in Korea where almost nothing is in a language I can understand: I need all the help I can get! Being creative in my tiny two stove stop kitchen can get a little dull. I’m ready to spruce it up!

  200. We have seven children from the ages of 17 down to a one month old and we eat like a normal family, well, a normal family of 9. We are going semi paleo for the health benefits and for my husband to lose some ” baby weight.” I am looking forward to incorporating some of your recipes into our daily routine.

  201. Hi Diane. I’m looking forward to the “30 Day Guide to Paleo Cooking” because I’m new to this lifestyle. I don’t want to lose any weight. My main focus is to get as healthy as I can so I perform on my mountain bike as close to peak as possible. The 30 Day Guide will help me transition to cooking paleo better.

  202. I’m beginning the Paleo lifestyle for medical reasons and I need all the help I can get so my inflammation will go away! I’m 33 and want to be able to run again, carry grocery bags and type!

  204. Recently I was REALLY low on money and debts were eating me from all sides! That was UNTIL I decided to make money on the internet! I went to surveymoneymaker dot net, and started filling in surveys for cash, and surely I’ve been far more able to pay my bills!! I’m so glad, I did this! With all the financial stress these years, I really hope all of you will give it a chance. – rkvj
