My passion for nutrition, health and fitness stems from a sports-centric youth. I grew up playing soccer, volleyball, softball; physical education, health and science were amongst my favorite hours of the school day. I didn’t consider studying nutrition as an undergraduate, but after several years in a different professional track, I knew that my interest in these subjects was something that I needed to pursue. I focused on studying real food and holistic nutrition for several years and began an organic meal delivery business in 2008. After just a few months of delivering meals to clients, I realized that doing the work for people wasn’t the way I would ultimately help transform the lives of many. I had to teach them how to make diet and lifestyle changes that they could employ themselves. The only way to truly change someone’s diet and lifestyle is to help them to create new habits. I now feel extraordinarily lucky to have the opportunity to share my passion for healthy, delicious food with others and help them find heath and wellness.

Somewhere along the way, we stopped eating real food. We have a hard time recognizing basic, natural, and nutritious fare, instead plucking processed, chemical- laden groceries off of store shelves and calling it dinner. But this isn’t necessarily our fault. We’re constantly barraged with marketing messages from every medium screaming about the latest “superfood,” the one that’s going to finally make us healthy and happy. No wonder we’ve lost our way. Balanced Bites was born after spending a year running an organic meal delivery business and witnessing this phenomenon first-hand. It became clear people want to make a change in their diets and lives, but weren’t exactly sure how to do it. I realized my own journey in diet and health exploration helped me to embrace what healthy eating and living looks like, and I decided to use this information to help others in their own quest for good health and better lives. My approach to health, nutrition, and wellness is based on the point of view that human beings are like any other member of the animal kingdom. We have specific nutritional needs that can only be met by enjoying fresh, real food. I help you get back to basics by showing you what real food is and by creating a customized meal plan for your individual nutritional needs. At the end of our time together, you can easily shop for, cook, and eat delicious meals that give your body what it needs to be healthy and happy. Ultimately, we each must travel down the path toward health and wellness alone. I’m here to help you find the path and enjoy the journey.

Notice that my journey has been a 9-year trip! This isn’t about going on a diet, but changing your lifestyle. Fortunately for you, I can teach you what I didn’t know back in 2001 so that it doesn’t need to take you as long as it took me! The journey to health does not end, but it continues to evolve and change over time.
