Since 2007, when I first owned and operated Balanced Bites as a meal business, I had a dream of getting healthy, fresh food into people's hands to make life easier.

The original tagline of Balanced Bites was “Fresh. Healthy. Easy. Delicious.”

These meals are exactly that, and then frozen so they can make their way to you, nationwide – across the United States!

But, before I was a New York Times bestselling author, I was in a kitchen making meals for clients and then studying and teaching nutrition for years!

Back when Balanced Bites first began in 2007…

I rented kitchen space in Emeryville, CA where I cooked meals for clients in San Francisco.

I delivered meals to clients' doors as well as to this cooler that I found on Craigslist and promptly cleaned up, covered in white contact paper (it was brown!), and into which I installed all bright, brand new white shelves.

I was so proud of this cooler. And you'll notice the early incarnation of not only Balanced Bites Meals, but also "Diane's Salad Madness," which I now have as a hashtag on Instagram. But, back in 2007-2008, I was making some amazing salads for my clients as well as for grab-and-go from the cooler.

Growing up, Diane ate a lot of a popular canned sloppy joe brand that was loaded with junky ingredients—yikes!
